Chasing shadows: Irish music photographs

‘Chasing shadows: Irish music photographs’, is an exhibition of 14 informal portraits of people in the act of listening, watching, participating, singing, dancing, and music-making. All of these photographs were taken on great musical occasions, ranging from concerts by world-renowned performers to, more typically, informal gatherings in obscure pubs. The people in the photographs are absorbed in the music happening around them, they are relaxed, unguarded, self-revealing.

Prints of these photographs, a selection from an ongoing project on Irish traditional music, will be on exhibition in the Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, Co. Mayo, from 20th July – 25th August 2011.
The show will be officially opened by Eugene McCormack, Mayor of Castlebar, at 7.30 in the Linenhall foyer.
